Architect Don Lark has turned to buying and fixing up old homes after the tragic death of his daughter.  His newest acquisition comes with a mysterious tunnel, a female squatter, and very odd neighbors.  Card, a popular writer in all genres of speculative fiction, takes on Lark's story and ultimately uses it to illustrate how love can overcome evil.

A Room for the Dead by Noel Hynd  HYN

In this blend of both Horror and Mystery, detective Frank O'Hara is on the brink of retirement when a gruesome murder is committed.  The crime appears to be the work of notorious serial killer Gary Ledbetter, but Frank was a key player in the capture and execution of Ledbetter years earlier.  How can Frank catch a ghost?

Craig and Effie Bellman purchase Valhalla, a New Orleans mansion with a terrible past.  While working to restore it, Craig becomes absorbed in the house and its evil history, but will he meet with the same untimely death as each of Valhalla's past owners?

House of Many Shadows by Barbara Michaels MIC

Meg may be recuperating from a head injury, but she is clear headed enough to understand that something strange is going on in the old home she inherited from her cousin.  When the caretaker, Andy, begins to also witness horrifying visions, Meg's terrifying suspicions are validated. Michaels again showcases her proven blend of horror and romance.

Violin by Anne Rice  RIC

The master of the vampire tale proves she can hold her own with this time bending ghost tale.  Trianna is mourning many losses and the only thing that seems to lift her spirit is the beautiful violin music played by a ghost, Stephan. Stephan takes Trianna on a tormenting journey, ultimately forcing her to confront her depression and her life in general. Although this book does not have vampires in it, Rice fans will recognize the writing style, setting, and emotions found within any Rice book.
